Asheville Trail Guide

WELCOME TO ASHEVILLE

Is there anything better than enjoying “America’s Favorite Drive” in the spring with the pink rhododendrons in bloom? Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the city of Asheville offers easy access to several mountain escapes and pathways through the city to immerse yourself in local art in the River Arts District. Or maybe walking to a craft brewery is more your speed. Or 26 craft breweries. Regardless, we want to share the beauty of Asheville with everyone who wants to enjoy it.

We’ve gathered our favorite hikes in the area and made sure there’s a trail for every comfort level. Let’s get outside and explore everything Asheville has to offer! Below is the icon key for our trail recommendations:

TRAIL CONSIDERATIONS

What to know before you go.

START SMALL

Research trails near you and find an option that is recommended for your comfort level.

CHECK THE WEATHER

Always check the weather before you hit the trail. Conditions and temperatures can change at higher elevations.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY

Choose breathable, quick-drying material and good shoes to make sure you stay comfortable throughout the hike.

CARRY THE NECESSITIES

No need to overpack. Carry the essentials for the hike you’re going on.

CELL PHONES

Cell phones can be beneficial, but service can be limited.

TAKE A TRAIL MAP

Some trails can be difficult to follow. Having a map on hand can help you stay on course.

RESPECT THE TRAIL & OTHERS

Try your best to stay on the official trail to avoid disturbing surrounding foliage. Also, make sure to pack out all your trash, and be mindful of other hikers who are outside to enjoy nature.

TELL A FRIEND

Let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to return.
